The American Association of Caregiving Youth recognizes National Spokesperson Madeline Grace Asbell, the 2026 student recipient of the Texas PTA Outstanding Advocacy Impact Award.
The award honors one outstanding Local PTA, one Council PTA, and one student from across the state for exceptional advocacy. Madeline, a student at Rouse High School in Leander ISD, was the only student selected for this year’s statewide recognition.
Texas PTA is the second-largest state PTA in the nation, with nearly 500,000 members. Its recognition of Madeline brings greater visibility to Caregiving Youth and the importance of including their voices in conversations about education, families and caregiving.

Texas PTA recognized Madeline as a passionate advocate and national speaker for AACY, whose work reaches the local, state, and national levels. Inspired by her own experience caring for her grandmother, Madeline works to raise awareness and build greater recognition and support for young people who care for family members.
“Advocacy has become so much more than something I do. It’s a part of who I am,” Madeline shared. “Every opportunity to speak up for others, especially Caregiving Youth, has shown me that one voice really can make a difference.”
Madeline was honored alongside TC McCormick Jr Middle School PTSA, the Local PTA recipient, and the Allen ISD Council of PTAs, the Council recipient.
Please join AACY in recognizing Madeline and the growing impact of young advocates who are raising awareness and creating change for Caregiving Youth. We hope her example encourages more young people to share their stories and use their voices.
