AACY Founder Dr. Connie Siskowski Presents on Caregiving Youth at UVA School of Medicine

PRESS ALERT | May 30, 2026 | Caregiving Youth in Healthcare

On May 28, Dr. Connie Siskowski, RN, PhD, Founder and President of the American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY), presented “Caregiving Youth: Hidden in Healthcare” at the University of Virginia School of Medicine as part of its Caring for the Caregiver Health Series.

The presentation focused on the often-overlooked role children and teens play in caring for family members who are ill, injured, aging, or living with disabilities. Healthcare professionals are often in a position to notice when a young person is providing care at home. Recognizing Caregiving Youth is an important first step toward connecting them with support.

Dr. Siskowski is pictured with Richard “Dick” Lindsay, M.D., Professor Emeritus of Internal Medicine and Family Medicine at the UVA Health Sciences Center and founder of UVA’s Division of Geriatric Medicine. Dr. Lindsay is also an active member of AACY’s National Advisory Council and founder of the Lindsay Institute for Innovations in Caregiving.
