Caregiving Youth Recognized at the 2025 Caregiver Nation Summit

The American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY) is grateful to the leaders of the National Alliance for Caregiving and the 2025 Caregiver Nation Summit for highlighting the nation’s young caregivers, America’s Caregiving Youth, in this year’s program.

For the first time, the Summit included a dedicated presentation on Caregiving Youth, delivered by Feylyn Lewis, PhD, LMSW, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, titled “My Caregiving Journey: A Youth Caregiver.” Also in attendance was Maria Miranda, LMSW, Aging in Place Social Worker and Advocate for Family Caregivers. Both serve on the National Advisory Council of the American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY).

Special thanks to Jason Resendez, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Caregiving, for continuing to evolve and elevate this issue while representing all caregivers across the United States.

The 2025 Caregiver Nation Summit draws from the newly released Caregiving in the U.S. 2025 report, which explores trends such as the growing prevalence and intensity of caregiving, the financial impact on families, and the challenges faced by working caregivers. Including Caregiving Youth in this national conversation is an important step toward recognizing the more than 6 million children and teens in the United States who provide care at home, mostly unseen and absolutely unpaid, but who are becoming an increasingly vital part of our nation’s healthcare delivery system.
