Bipartisan Action Recognizes National Caregiving Youth Week

Press Alert: November 14, 2025

The American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY) is pleased to share that Representatives Lois Frankel (D-FL-22) and María Elvira Salazar (R-FL-27) have introduced a bipartisan measure recognizing November 10–16, 2025, as National Caregiving Youth Week.

This recognition underscores the experiences of more than six million Caregiving Youth nationwide who balance school and daily life while providing essential care for family members with chronic illness, disability, frailty, or conditions requiring ongoing support.

AACY President and Founder Dr. Connie Siskowski offered support for this national acknowledgment, noting that Caregiving Youth remain largely overlooked in education and health care systems and deserve formal recognition and resources. As one student asked her, “Where would our country be without Caregiving Youth?”

The measure encourages educators, health professionals, and policymakers to better understand and address the needs of this underserved population. It supports continued federal efforts to gather up-to-date national research on Caregiving Youth.

AACY proudly supports this bipartisan action and thanks Representatives Frankel and Salazar for bringing national attention to Caregiving Youth through this recognition.
