Boca Raton, FL – Press Alert Wednesday, June 4, 2025 | American Association of Caregiving Youth Participates in National PBS Documentary Screening and Panel Discussion in Washington, D.C.
On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY) participated in a special screening and panel discussion of Caregiving, a new PBS documentary exploring the challenges and triumphs of caregiving in America. The event took place at The George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium in Washington, D.C., and was moderated by veteran journalist Judy Woodruff.
Dr. Connie Siskowski, AACY Founder, and Jacob, a student in AACY’s Caregiving Youth Project who is also featured in the film, joined the panel to represent the often-overlooked experiences of children and teens who provide care for family members. Other panelists included Chris Durrance, Director of Caregiving; Josh Carter, caregiver and grandson of President Jimmy and First Lady Rosalynn Carter; and Dr. Christina Prather, Director of the GW Institute for Brain Health and Dementia.
AACY is proud to be part of this national effort to bring visibility to caregivers of all ages and is a national outreach and engagement partner in the project alongside leading organizations working to support caregivers. Additionally, research from the Caregiving Youth Research Collaborative (CYRC) was cited as a source in the official press release and used to support the subject matter of the film. Also featured in the project are AACY partners, including Hope Loves Company and the Rhode Island Department of Education.
Caregiving, executive produced by Bradley Cooper, premieres on PBS on June 24 at 8 p.m. ET and will be available for streaming on the PBS website and the free PBS app. For more information, visit wellbeings.org.
