A Churchill Fellowship report now informing policy in Australia identifies AACY and the Caregiving Youth Project as the primary model for school-embedded direct service.

Madeleine Buchner OAM, Founder and CEO of Little Dreamers Australia and 2024 Churchill Fellow, conducted research across the U.S. and the UK to study best-practice policies and programs for young carers. Her U.S. research centered on AACY and the Caregiving Youth Project.
The report, “Nothing for us, without us,” identifies six action areas for systemic change in Australia. Dr. Elizabeth Olson of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Caregiving Youth Research Collaborative called it “a must-read.”
