Dale Bell Biography

 Dale Bell grad­u­ated from Prince­ton Uni­ver­sity with a BA with a major in The­ater. He was a Pro­ducer of the Acad­emy Award-winning film Wood­stock(1970). Bell has pro­duced pub­lic tele­vi­sion and mul­ti­me­dia for over 45 years. For 12 years (1976–1984) he was the Head of Pro­duc­tion for WQED, Pitts­burgh. With Harry Wiland, he founded the Media & Pol­icy Cen­ter and devel­oped its media model. Since the broad­cast of And Thou Shalt Honor in 2002, he has become a national spokesman for elder­care. Along with Wiland, he has been the Exec­u­tive Pro­ducer of all of MPC’s major pro­duc­tions. He co-wrote the PBS Com­pan­ion book for Edens Lost & Found and super­vised the writ­ing of the Aca­d­e­mic Cur­ricu­lum. Bell, along with Wiland, was also a project leader for Edens Lost & Found, and for The Going To Green Sus­tain­abil­ity Cur­ricu­lum (PBSD/Chelsea Green Pub­lish­ing). He has been a mem­ber of the Direc­tors Guild of Amer­ica since 1974 and the Acad­emy of Tele­vi­sion Arts and Sci­ences since 1977. In 2006 he was elected an Ashoka Life­time Fel­low. Wiland and Bell remain the only media pro­fes­sion­als to be elected as Fellows.
