Marc L. Watrous Ph.D.
Marc Watrous is Vice President Access Solutions and Managed Care Marketing of Genentech. Access Solutions supports the navigation of complex reimbursement issues for physicians and patients as well as assistance for those who have financial barriers to accessing Genentech products. The Managed Care Marketing group provides marketing support for the company’s managed markets field teams.
Dr. Watrous joined Genentech in 1997 as a health economist. During the next several years, he held positions of leadership in health economics, R&D portfolio and project management, pricing strategy, and managed care contracting and operations. Most recently, Marc was responsible for ensuring appropriate formulary and reimbursement of all Genentech products with Commercial and Government Payers, Hospital Systems, Employers, Pharmacy Benefit Management companies and Specialty Pharmacies.
In prior years, Dr. Watrous served as a global health economist for SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals. A pharmacist and health services researcher, Marc has nearly two decades of experience in health care delivery, development, and evaluation. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and has been an invited speaker on a range of issues related to outcomes research, portfolio management and pricing. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the Albany College of Pharmacy and a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina.
